From Musical Unity to the Political Kind

According to the New York Times, a multi-million record selling Haitian musician has announced he would run for president of Haiti. Wyclef Jean, a 37 year old hip hop/reggae music maker, says he’s ready to represent his country. In this election he may also run alongside his uncle, Raymond Joseph, who was Haiti’s ambassador to the United States in 2005. Wyclef has been recently been helping out Haiti by supporting and performing at fundraising concerts to raise money for the recent earthquake disasters. His songs include lyrics such as, “Instead of spending billions on the war, I can use the money to feed the poor.”. Wyclef is not only a musical icon in Haiti but their pride and glory, and a living proof that someone who came from so little can rise up and make dreams happen.

Well this would've been cool if he could actually have ran. But since he didn't live there for the past 5 years his nomination was rejected.

I wonder if he even had political experience to even run a country. But it would have been interesting
