A small village of the Jujuy (pronounced hoo-HWEE), the people make offerings make offerings to the earth goddess, Pachamama. Some of the offerings are food, cocoa leaves, and cigarettes. They would bury these sacrifices in their backyard or a field. Jujuy stood apart from the rest of Latin America. In the year of 2001, Argentina had a huge financial crisis that led many to explore the country. The Jujuy village was made op of salt deserts, jungles and multicolored rocky mountains. This small village would rarely get visitors, except the occasional adventurous travelers. An actor named Facundo Arana said “Maybe this is one of the things we have the crisis to thank for Jujuy cannot be put into words; it seeps in through your eyes, your ears and your soul.” Therefore the “Gem” of Argentina was found.
