On Aug 24, 2010, A Chinese passenger jet crashed, killing 42 people, in the nation’s first fatal crash in 5 years. It crashed an hour after departing from Harbin, China. The other 54 survivors were severely injured. 2 people on the ground were also killed. Among the passengers were 5 children, they all survived the crash, but 4 of them suffered heavy respiratory tract burns. The plane crashed around 9:30 p.m. local time. The plane broke in half throwing some passengers out of the cabins before bursting in flames. They said passengers were unable to open emergency exits after the wreck; survivors escaped through cracks in the fuselage. Xinhua news reported that Chinese carriers had previously complained of problems with the aircraft, including cracks in the turbine plates and flight control system errors. In my opinion, the airline was being pretty dumb not getting the plane checked even though there were alot of complaints.
