Shakenhurst Manor

According to the New York Times, in Cleobury Mortimer, England, something happened that has not happened in over a thousand years. For over a thousand years the Shakenhurst Manor has been in the same family. It is now for the first time in a millennium, going back on the market. The entire property, the main house, the 12 cottages, 1,300 acres, or 525 hectares, of woods and farmland, a lake and river with fishing rights and the shooting rights are for sale at £12 million, or about $19 million. The real estate agent believes that people will pay premium price for the whole property, and thinks it to be a shame to break it up. I think that it’s very interesting that a house that has been in royal family for a thousand years is going on the market. I really hope that the real estate agent doesn’t break up the property, and the new owner preserves its rich history.
