Anger Remains Over Killings of Chinese Hostages in Philippines

August 27, 2010, in Manila, Philippines, a 55-year-old police officer opened fire inside a tour bus containing Chinese tourists. The bus driver escaped the bus yelling that everyone was dead. After that knowledge, the police moved in. The gunman was Rolando Mendoza, he was killed by a police sniper. It is an emotional time in Hong Kong because of this happening. The episode deeply damaged the Philippines tourism industry. Many people from Hong Kong are not coming to the Philippines to tour. The Philippines scores low in a variety fo rankings on safety and civil society.
