Today in West Africa the U.S. Army is taking their minerals from the Ivory Coast. But their excuse is that they are “protecting” Africa from the riots taking place because Gbagbo will not step down from his president ship even though he lost the election to Ouatarra. During this time the U.S. Army. Is taking the natural resources that are native to the Ivory Coast. They are staying there and are competeing for the minerals needed to make electronics function. There are others who are there trying to also take the minerals. But for right now the U.S. army is staying there, but as an excuse they are saying they are there for “peace- keeping”.
This current event relates to imperialism when England was taking over. This is just like how England and other countries were in history. They took people from Africa and their resources. Britain took resources from India and ruled over it for a very long time through colonies. They exported guns and gave them to the natives and the Africans did try to revolt but spears could not defeat guns and there for the other nations were able to take over Africa and use their land with out permission from the Africans themselves. Others used racism to keep them down. They said that their head shape resembled the shape of an ape and used that as an excuse for what they were doing to them.
