Victoria Puccerlina's Journal

Victoria Puccerlina's Journal
August 5,1940

My name is Victoria Puccerlina, my fathers name is Leandro Puccerlina, my mothers name is Violetta Puccerlina, and my older brother, Leonardo Puccerlina. We're a big happy family, we love to spend time together. It's very important to us, we can't be seperated. That's our weakness. So, Today we just had a parade honoring our great leader, Benito Mussolini. We love our leader because he understands our families very well and out living. It was fantastic, everyone in town was there celebrating Mussolini's great National Facist Party.

Today was the worst day of my families life. My brother, Leonardo and father, Leandro had been sent to germany to help the troops fight Britain. My mother has been sobbing all day and I dont know what to do. She has been in bed all morning, and its 3pm right now. Seeing my father and brother away from us is like half of our lives has been taken away from us. I'm trying to keep strong for my mother, but it's just so hard right now. On the bright side, my brother and father said that they'll write to us as soon as possible to tell us they're alright. That brings my hopes up for my mother and I.

Just recently Hitler has defeated France and has ordered to organize the battle of Britain. He calls it, operation Sealion. There's about 160,000 German soldiers..not including my brother and father. This operation Sealion is required to be air and navel supremacy over the english channel. This does not sound too good because my brother is scared to be in the air. Let's see how this goes, this should let him over come his fear! I find this pretty funny though, but i know I shouldn't. I just can't imagine him in war since he's sensitive.

Operation Sealion was postponed today, but never carried out. After that Hitler didn't go back to Britain, he stuck to Poland. Handling the jews of course, just like Mussolini. We had got a letter from my father and Leanardo. There coming home soon! You don't know how relieved my mother and I are. The wars over and I can't wait for my family to be reunited.
