My name is Emily Green I was born on June 3, 1922 in Akron Ohio US. I was a factory worker, I began in 1940. My mother (Elisabeth Auerbach) was from the US. And my dad (Steven Green) was from France. They marry, and the have three children included me. My older brother Travis (17 yrs), and my small sister Marian (5 yrs). Every thing began in 1938 when I was 16. We move to France because my dad wanted to go to his home land, to put a factory of clothe. He wanted a factory since he was 12.
My mom was exited about going to another place. Even she knew that there were some rumors about war. She didn’t care she was just happy. “Emily did you pack your stuffs you now that leave tomorrow”. Mom says “I know” I say. She is freaking out because she never got in a ship. I no happy about leaving Ohio this is my home I have my entire friend and now I have to change everything and I even need to learn French. I just going to miss the thing that I did here. So much thing that I been through. The next day we were leaving. I was scare for all the rumors about the war. But anyways we leave in March 18 1937. That day I felt exited to go and live in another place around the world. When the ship started to move I said “here I start a new life” I felt the cold breeze of the air and I just close my eyes and I think the things that I would do in France. We got in France on 22 of March. It was a long trip, when I firs saw France I felt in love with the country. We live in a pretty good house. My dad put his factory of clothe it was successfully and he make a lot of money. Between the ages of 17 and 18 I went to school, I leaned Italian and French. My firs and last love was Kevin Williams, he was a soldier I marry him in April 5, 1940.
On 1939 Hitler invades Poland and the WWII began. By May 10, 1940 Hitler invaded France. Because of this people had to evacuate to Dunkirk my older brother went to the military and we never saw him again (I miss him). My little sister my mom, dad and I evacuated France. I never saw my family again because when we leave France they put us on different ships. I heard that some French officer escape to England and set up a government-in-exile. I went to Britain I didn’t know nobody in there. I live in the street for 1 week. Then I found a factory I work there by doing weapons. I found a great friend and she let me stay in her home. I always think of my husband Kevin I really miss him and I was worried that something bad happed to him. I worked really hard. The factory of my dad, a rich German owns it. I was sad because I just think about the hard job that my dad did to raise that factory. I was sad I lost everything and I was afraid that I would lose my love Kevin. May 15, Air War, Germany Britain launches its first strategic air attack on Germany with 99 aircraft hitting oil plants and railroad yards in the Ruhr region. I still worked in the same factory it was tired and a just wanted to go back to US. I hear some rumors about what happen in Poland and those places what they did to the Jews and how the kill a massive number of Jews. I just started to hear thing about the war until June 6, 1944 D-day that’s how they call it. A lot of boats and airplanes started to back off Germany. Because of these France got liberated. I quit my job and I went back to France. On July I finally find my husband Kevin when I saw him I just ran and give him a big hug I could believe that he was alive. After that I started to search for my family but I didn’t found them.
Know I live a pretty good life in New York I have 2 children one boy and one gird both of them had great children my grandchildren.
